Scalp Acupuncture
I attended a course on Scalp Acupuncture by John Tindell who is a foremost expert in its use. The course was at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. Very fine, long needles are inserted under the scalp along lines mostly at right angles to the front/back line of the scalp. It is not painful and is just another needling method. The scalp is divided up in to lines as per the diagram below and different areas are used to treat different conditions.
What can Scalp Acupuncture treat?
Neurological and Emotional problems and to treat conditions such as:-
- Stroke and Stroke Recovery
- M.E.
- M.S.
- Brain Injury caused by trauma
- PTSD
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Parkinson’s
- Pain management
I use this technique occasionally as a help to ‘normal’ Acupuncture and I like to think of it as another tool in my Acupuncture toolbox.
Other treatments
Scalp Acupuncture, can easily be used with other forms of Acupuncture such as Auricular Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture, Five Element Acupuncture, Electro Acupuncture. As I am trained in many techniques, I can combine them when I need to for the good of the patient.
